TECNO Working on Flagship Phantom X Phone with Curved Display

Aside from Infinix, TECNO is also reportedly working on a high-end smartphone to compete against the bigger and more established brands. Rumored to be called the Phantom X, this upcoming TECNO phone looks vastly different from its usual offerings based on current leaks.

Like the upcoming flagship phone from Infinix, the Phantom X also marks the first time TECNO is going to use a curved display. judging from the photos in the latest leaks, the display of the Phantom X will have pronounced curves reminiscent of Samsung’s recent Galaxy S series smartphones. In fact, the Phantom X does have its similarities with the Galaxy S10+ with its pill-shaped punch-hole housing two front cameras–which is rumored to consist of a 48-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter.

As for the display itself, leaks point to the Phantom X having a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED panel (a first for TECNO) with a 90hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint scanner. We’re not sure about the latter, but the photos don’t show any fingerprint scanner on the side or back of the phone.

Unlike the leaked renders of the Infinix flagship smartphone, the TECNO Phantom X will have its camera module placed in the center. The module houses three cameras and is rumored to comprise a 50-megapixel main camera, 13-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel camera. There’s not much detail revealed yet about the latter two cameras.

Going to the internals the Phantom X will reportedly be powered by a Helio G95 processor that is paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and will have a 4700mAh battery that supports 33w fast charging.

Like with Infinix, it is very interesting to see TECNO getting itself ready to compete with the upper mid-range market. Bringing features like a curved OLED display to an affordable price point, and we should know more come August to see if TECNO is ready to go against more established brands.
