While HONOR is expected to make the Magic V2 official globally at their IFA 2023 keynote, the brand revealed another foldable in the form of the V Purse concept phone. Utilizing an outward folding design similar to older Huawei Mate X foldables, the V Purse utilizes a modern hinge design that measures only 9mm when folded–that’s thinner than the already-then Magic V2 when unfolded.

The idea behind the outward folding design is meant to use the V Purse as a “phy-digital fashion statement”, where you can personalize it with different straps and showcase different always-on display styles that are interactive as a statement. HONOR even tapped Burberry menswear design director Bram Van Diepen, contemporary artist Yunuene Esparza, dean of the China Academy of Art International College Yuan Youmin and interdisciplinary artist Xiao Hui Wang to design these unique AOD styles for the V Purse.

The main goal of the V Purse? to have an item that can go along with any of your outfits–making people reduce the reliance on fast fashion products. HONOR’s goal for the unusual concept phone is “to encourage consumers to buy less, and use for longer”.

Being a concept device, the V Purse is not intended for mass production–though it did mentioned that the slim hinge is rated for up to 400,000 folds. While you cannot buy the V Purse, HONOR is planning to open up a platform for AOD designs that will allow developers to create custom looks in the future.
