One of this year’s major what ifs
Do you still remember when Google made the decision to let LG and not HTC take charge in designing the Pixel 2 XL? Before there was Taimen (which later on turned out to be the LG-made Pixel 2 XL), there was “Muskie” named Pixel phone. It turns out—as confirmed by The Verge—that Muskie didn’t die. Instead, it is better known as the HTC U11 Plus.
In an article by the Verge, their sources revealed that the HTC U11 Plus bore the core design and engineering that was supposed to be used for the Pixel 2 XL, until Google decided to go with LG instead. If you would compare the design of the U11 Plus with the Pixel XL, you will notice the similarities, especially with the fingerprint scanner placement.
While the U11 Plus has HTC-exclusive elements like an all-glass back and a camera UI similar to the one found on the U11, we still ask ourselves: What if Google chose to have HTC design the Pixel 2 XL?
