While we know the Transsion group more for TECNO and Infinix, they also have itel, which is their brand focusing on budget devices. We got hold of some of their budget phones in the past, and it appears that itel is expanding its portfolio to tablets with the Pad 1.

Announced in India, the Pad 1 is a “premium” itel product with its metal unibody frame and a 10-1-inch IPS display with a 1280×800 resolution and symmetrical bezels across all four sides. As an entry-level tablet, the Pad 1 is powred by a Unisoc SC9863A, which is an aging processor that’s based on a 28nm process. It’s paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage–the latter being expandable via MicroSD–and runs Android 12 (Go Edition) out of the box.

The Pad 1 does have an 8-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera and comes with stereo speakers and LTE connectivity. Keeping the lights on is a 6000mAh battery with support for 10w USB-C charging. This makes the Pad 1 one of the few itel devices to have USB-C and not MicroUSB.

The Pad 1 is priced at RS 12,999 in India, or around Php 9k when converted. Considering that neither TECNO nor Infinix has a tablet offering in the Philippines (the former has a Tab 4G but it’s sold out as of this writing), Transsion might bolster its presence in the local tablet market with the Pad 1.
