The Motorola Edge X Might be the First Snapdragon 898 Phone

While Qualcomm is set to reveal more details about the Snapdragon 898 at the 2021 Snapdragon Tech Summit, brands like Motorola and Xiaomi are working on phones equipped with the flagship processor. Motorola might be the first brand with a Snapdragon 898 processor with the Edge X (or Edge 30 Ultra in other regions).

Renders of the upcoming phone has been revealed by Onleaks and 91Mobiles, where we get a rough idea of its possible specs. The display is reportedly to be a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with 144hz refresh rate, in-display fingerprint scanner, and support for HDR10+. Like the Edge 20 Pro, the Edge X will have a flat panel. The punch-hole will be interesting, as it is said to have a 60-megapixel selfie snapper.

Moving to the back, the triple rear camera setup will reportedly use a 50-megapixel OV50A main camera, 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN1 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Considering that it is supposed to be called Edge 30 Ultra in some regions, it’s disappointing to not see a telephoto camera in its triple rear camera setup.

Powering the Edge X is a 5000mAh battery with 68w wired charging, and will be around 8.8mm thick (10mm including the camera bump). Given that the Snapdragon 898 may be announced by the end of this month, Motorola might make the Edge X official by the end of the year–similar to what Xiaomi did with the Mi 11 last year.
