The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition Has 20GB Of RAM Inside

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition was just announced as the cutting edge for the company’s mobile lineup. The ZTE phone comes with 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM on board, but is also equipped with the capability to convert some of its 1TB of internal storage into virtual RAM – pushing the ceiling for the playing field to 20 GB. That’s more RAM than most people’s PCs and laptops, let alone a phone.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition Specs:

  • Snapdragon 888 processor
  • 1TB UFS 3.1 storage
  • 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED curved display, 144hz refresh rate, 10-bit color, 100% DCI-P3
  • 64-megapixel f/1.6 main camera with PDAF and OIS, 64-megapixel f/1.9 35mm camera; 64-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with PDAF, 8-megapixel periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom and OIS
  • 16-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera
  • 4G, 5G
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, in-display fingerprint scanner
  • 4600mAh battery
  • 66w wired charging
  • Android 11, MyOS 11

How exactly does more RAM help, and why is there a numbers race in the mobile industry? To summarize, additional RAM in a phone allows the user to multitask more effectively. Switching from application to application is a smoother experience, and returning to other apps you are currently running won’t lead to a refresh of said application.

In the past 2 years, RAM inclusions within the range of 12-16 GB became the norm for flagship devices, with midrange devices trailing not too far behind. This ZTE phone will be the determinant of whether or not consumers will find the push to 20 GB of RAM a vital step for the future, or just a diminishing return fuelled by the numbers war.

Other notable specifications of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition include the class-leading Snapdragon 888 chipset, 1TB of storage, a 6.67 inch AMOLED display with HDR10+ support, and a 64-megapixel quad-camera setup with 8K shooting capabilities. It will be launched in China on November 25, with actress Liu Haocun as the face of promotions.
