18:9 display and awesome hardware
The OnePlus 5 is one of the best budget flagships you can buy today, but when put against the newer, “bezel-less” phones that the competition has been releasing lately, it looks rather dated. Obviously that’s not ideal, so OnePlus is allegedly releasing an updated OnePlus 5T model that has a tall 6-inch 18:9 display to compete with its rivals.
At least, that’s what GizmoChina says, who have received leaked information and photos of the new, upcoming model. The biggest change compared to the OnePlus 5 is obviously the display. The 6-inch panel will have a display resolution of 2160 x 1080, which gives it an 18:9 aspect ratio much like its other competitors. Its sister companies Vivo and OPPO are jumping onto the 18:9 bandwagon, so it only makes sense for OnePlus to do the same.
The render that GizmoChina obtained that allegedly shows off the OnePlus 5T’s front makes it look a whole lotta like Samsung’s Galaxy S8, though we’ll have to see the final renders and the product in question in the flesh before we make any judgements. As far as hardware is concerned, you can expect the upcoming phone to have roughly the same specs as the OnePlus 5, which means plenty of RAM, storage and a beefy Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Hopefully OnePlus still keeps the price down compared to its other competitors.
