To borrow a phrase from fast food restaurants, tonight on the podcast we will be “go large” or “go bigtime” as we step away from the usual slim and compact smartphones and have a lengthy discussion about “PHABLETS”. These gadgets are named like that because they are straddling the middle of phones and tablets due to their size. Usually phablets are devices that go beyond 5-inches in display. This category was pioneered by the Dell Streak 5 and then popularized by the Samsung Galaxy Note. Local brands have followed as well with units like the Starmobile Diamond V3, Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0, and the upcoming MyPhone Iceberg.
Tonight on the podcast we will kick things off with discussion about this trend. After that we’ll do a live review of the “biggest” phablet around, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, which is already available in Samsung stores and being offered by Smart on their postpaid plans. After that we do a hands-on and live preview of one of the the newest phablets that will enter the PH market — the Starmobile Diamond V7.
