vivo Unveils V29 in Europe with eSIM Support, IP68 Rating

After we received details about the V29 Pro, vivo made the vanilla V29 official in Europe–and eventually in other markets. While it shares the same design language as the V27, the V29 now has the Aura Portrait light separate from the LED flash and is said to be 36% brighter than the one used on the V27. Another upgrade to the Aura Portrait light is it has Smart Color Temperature Adjustment, which adjusts the ring light’s color depending on the environment.

Like the V27, you are getting a 50-megapixel OIS ultra-sensing main camera, which we presume is the same IMX766V sensor. The front camera is also 50 megapixels, though vivo said that it expanded the field of view and improved its autofocusing capabilities. A big upgrade to the V29 is that you have an IP68 rating, making it the first V-series phone to do so and one of the few mid-range phones to have the said water and dust resistance rating.

The display may sound familiar–6.78-inch 120hz curved AMOLED–but the V29 is getting a more details 1.5K resolution, along with support for 1.07 billion colors and full DCI-P3 gamut coverage. Going to the processor, the V29 uses a Snapdragon 778G processor, which is slightly lower than the Dimensity 7200 used on the V27 in terms of performance, It comes with 8GB RAM and has eSIM functionality–making the V29 a rare mid-range Android phone to do so. The battery is the same at 4600mAh, but the charging speed is slightly better at 80w–and gets vivo’s smart charging engine to keep the battery healthy after over a thousand cycles.

vivo has yet to disclose details as to when the V29 will be available in other markets including the Philippines.
