While vivo is set to launch the X Fold2 next month, key officials showcase the upcoming foldable during the brand’s participation at the Boao Forum.
Based on the few photos of the conference, the X Fold2 should not look drastically different from the X Fold+ design-wise. A red colorway is expected, and the circular camera module appears to be the same save for a small bronze circle detail that appears to be an LED flash.
Despite looking similar to its predecessor, reports say that the X Fold2 should be lighter and thinner–for context, both the original X Fold and X Fold+ are heavy devices weighing in at 311 grams. A triple rear camera setup is expected, with the main camera being an IMX866 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS. The other two cameras–which we presume are the ultra-wide and telephoto–will be using a 12-megapixel IMX663. Just like the X90 series, the X Fold2 will utilize vivo’s V2 ISP.
What’s interesting about the X Fold2 is that like its predecessor, both the outer and inner display will utilize an in-display fingerprint scanner. Most foldable devices use a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and only vivo so far has opted for an in-display variety.
Other expected specs for the vivo’s next-gen foldable include a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a 4800mAh battery with 120w charging, and a 1440p 120hz AMOLED panel for the inner display.
