Will the Galaxy A7 (2018) Change the Mid-Range Smartphone Game?

Will the Galaxy A7 (2018) Change the Mid-Range Smartphone Game?

6GB RAM might be the norm for mid-range phones pretty soon

We got a number of interesting smartphones from the mid-range segment during the latter part of 2017. There’s the quad camera-equipped Huawei Nova 2i, the Selfie AI-equipped OPPO F5, and the RGB+Monochome dual cam-equipped Motorola Moto G5s. All three offer an impressive set of features, sporting decent mid-range level processors and at least 4GB of RAM.

However, 4GB of RAM might be no longer the norm, if the latest GeekBench stats of the Galaxy A7 (2018) is to be believed. Codenamed SM-A730F, the Galaxy A7 (2018) will be using a new Exynos 7885 processor, along with 6GB of RAM.

Analyzing further the GeekBench score of the SM-A730F, the Exynos 7885 processor has roughly the same scores with the Snapdragon 660 and 630. This means that the Exynos 7885 is most likely to be a mid-range processor.

As for the RAM, there are only two Samsung phones sold locally that have 6GB on board: That is the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy C9 Pro. Should the info on GeekBench be true, this means that soon enough Samsung will be equipping their mid-range phones with 6GB of RAM.
