Xiaomi 13 Lite to Be Based on Dynamic Island-Sporting Civi 2

Xiaomi 13 Lite to Be Based on Dynamic Island-Sporting Civi 2

With Xiaomi set to make the 13 series official globally at MWC 2023, it appears that we will see not just the 13 and 13 Pro. There are no details yet on the Xiaomi Ultra; instead, Xiaomi is expected to unveil the 13 Lite, and an unboxing video basically confirms that the 13 Lite is the Civi 2 for the global market.

The unboxing video reveals the packaging of the Xiaomi 13 Lite, which highlights key specs that include a 50-megapixel main camera (specifically an IMX766 sensor), 120hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, and 67w charging. Unboxing the phone further also confirms that the Xiaomi 13 Lite will also inherit the quirky dynamic island-like punch hole of the Civi 2.

Since it’s confirmed that the Xiaomi Civi 2 and 13 Lite are the same, the rest of the specs are predictable: the 13 Lite will have two 32-megapixel selfie cameras housed on the pill-shaped punch-hole, along with a 6.55-inch curved AMOLED display–which is an upgrade over the flat AMOLED panel of the 12 Lite.

Unlike most mid-range phones, the Xiaomi 13 Lite has an advantage with the ultra-wide-angle camera since it will use a 20-megapixel IMX376k sensor that’s definitely better than the usual 8-megapixel sensor we would see on a number of mid-range phones. The battery will be at 4500mAh and will retain the same 67w charging as its predecessor.

The arrival of the Xiaomi 13 Lite is exciting–it will be the first Android phone to have a “dynamic island” notch, and the first to be made available globally to use a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1–but the biggest question will be pricing. The Civi 2 has a starting price of around Php 20k in China, and we hope Xiaomi can stick to the same price for the 13 Lite.
