Contrary to speculations that the Redmi 5 Plus will be the replacement to the Redmi Note, Xiaomi is slated to launch a Redmi Note 5 this year. In fact, Xiaomi will be preparing two variants: One with a Snapdragon 630 processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, and one with a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage.
Both variants will be sporting a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 16-megapixel primary camera and 5-megapixel secondary camera. It will sport an 8-megapixel front camera with facial recognition, and will have a 4100mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
Pricing is expected to be at CNY1,499 (~Php 12.1k) for the Snapdragon 630 version, and CNY 1,799 (~Php 14.9k) for the Snapdragon 636 version. If rumors are correct, both Redmi Note 5 variants will launch during MWC 2018, together with the Mi 6X.
