Xiaomi Replaces Mi CC Series with Civi; Comes with Snapdragon 778G

Aside from dropping Mi from its branding, Xiaomi is also ditching the CC branding in China, calling it the Civi instead. While it does not have a 100+ megapixel main rear camera or a 5x telephoto camera, the Civi focuses more on design and on selfies.

Xiaomi Civi Specs

  • Snapdragon 778G processor
  • 8GB/12GB LPDDR4x RAM
  • 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage
  • 6.55-inch Full HD+ Curved OLED display, 120hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision
  • 64-megapixel f/1.79 main camera with PDAF, 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro camera with AF, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera
  • 32-megapixel selfie camera with AF
  • 4G, 5G
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, in-display fingerprint scanner
  • Stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio
  • 4500mAh battery
  • 55w fast charging
  • Android 11, MIUI 12.5

With design being the main focus here, the Civi is light at 166g and skinny at 6.98mm. That’s quite a feat considering that this is a 5G-ready phone with its Snapdragon 778G processor and that it has a decently-sized 4500mAh inside it that supports 55w wired charging. The Civi’s display is also a key feature: aside from using a curved panel, Xiaomi claims that the Civi has the thinnest chin ever on any of their phones at just 2.55mm.

The Civi comes with a top-notch curved OLED panel that has 120hz adaptive refresh rate, 240hz touch response rate, 10-bit color, and support for HDR10+ content and Dolby Vision. Despite the skinny frame, the Civi makes use of nine layers of graphene to keep thermals stable, and it comes with stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos.

The rear cameras are more of a standard affair: 64-megapixel f/1.79 main camera, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, and 2-megapixel f/2.4 macro camera. The selfie camera, on the other hand, is special with it use of a 32-megapixel sensor that has autofocus.

Xiaomi Civi Price

The Civi is priced at CNY 2600 for the 8GB/128GB variant, CNY 2900 for the 8GB/256GB variant, and CNY 3200 for the 12GB/256GB variant. All three variants will be available in China on September 30.
