AMD kicks of its next-generation processors with the announcement of the Ryzen 7000 series processors in Austin, Texas. The Ryzen 7000 series processors mark a big leap for AMD, as they are the first desktop processors to use TSMC’s 5nm process and also utilize AMD’s next-generation Zen 4 cores. This follows after they announced the Ryzen 7000 series processors for laptops–though those processors use a 4nm process.
The Ryzen 7000 series is led by the 7950X, which has 16 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.7Ghz boost clock, and a 170w TDP. Compared to the previous-generation 5950X, AMD claims as much as 35% better gaming performance with Shadow of the Tomb Raider and up to 48% better creator performance with V-Ray Render. Compared to Intel’s Core i9-12900K, AMD claims that the Ryzen 9 7950X offers as much as 47% better performance-per-watt.
AMD is very confident with the performance of the Ryzen 7000 series. They are so confident, that they said that even their entry-level Ryzen 5 7600X–which has 6 cores, 12 threads, up to 5.3Ghz boost clock, and a 105w TDP, can beat the Core i9-12900K with GeekBench Single-Core.
Speaking of the Ryzen 5 7600X, AMD adds that the most affordable Ryzen 7000 series processor offers an average of 5% better gaming performance over the Core i9-12900K. This shows how AMD’s 5nm-based Zen 4 architecture is setting a new standard for desktop performance.
Other key features of the Ryzen 7000 series include support for DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 SSDs, a use of AMD’s new AM5 socket motherboards, and as much as 80MB L2+L3 cache for the Ryzen 9 7950X.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Series Price
The Ryzen 7000 series starts at $299(~Php 16.9k) for the Ryzen 5 7600X. The Ryzen 7 7700X will have an SRP of $399(~Php 22.5k), while the Ryzen 9 7900X will retail for $549(~Php 31k). The top-end Ryzen 9 7950X will retail for $699(~Php 39.4k). All processors will be expected to be available by September 27.
