Their study is based on photos uploaded on Flickr, which still has an audience with professionals and enthusiasts despite falling out of the limelight with social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
Looking through the most popular camera brands in the world, Apple and Canon are in a close fight with around 151 million photos taken using the former and around 134 million photos taken using the latter. This shows that hobbyist and professional photographers prefer to use Apple or Canon for taking photos.
Going to the specific models that are popular in the Philippines, Canon’s entry-level EOS 1200D is the top choice among hobbyists, while Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro Max is the most popular camera phone in the country.
Looking through the most popular cameras in the world, Apple dominates the top 24 spots with practically every single iPhone you can think of–with the iPhone 11 as the most popular Apple smartphone. Outside of iPhones, the most popular Android camera phone goes to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The same can be said for the top 10 camera models with Canon, as the brand dominates 7 out of 10 spots with the EOS 5D Mark IV as the most popular Canon camera.
