BOE Demonstrates Monitor with 500hz Refresh Rate

As it explores new innovations in monitor technology, BOE demonstrated the first monitor with a 500hz refresh rate in China. This is part of showcasing its new oxide semiconductor display technology, which is said to overcome industry problems like copper diffusion, oxidation, and drilling.

The 500hz monitor BOE demonstrated even has a response time of 1ms, beating high-performance 360hz monitors available in the market today. On top of that, BOE’s 500hz monitor has 8-bit color gamut output and support for an 8-lane eDP signal.

While Full HD resolutions are considered old as more monitors shift to 1440p, fast 1080p panels are still used for competitive eSports tournaments.

Aside from a 27-inch Full HD monitor with a 500hz refresh rate. BOE also demonstrated a 110-inch 8K 120hz display that makes use of its oxide semiconductor technology.

Both monitors are meant to demonstrate BOE’s expertise in oxide semiconductor display technology, so don’t expect either display to be available to the public anytime soon.

As with the 500hz monitor, there will be a lot of questions regarding its practicality–currently, there are no games that can push 500FPS. The same goes for the 8k 120hz display, as there is no content yet that can support such a resolution.
