Converge Issues Statement on GoFiber App Data Breach

Following reports of Converge being hit by a data breach, the company immediately issued a statement, stating that “apart from the potential unauthorized viewing of the personal information, we have no evidence to date that any personally identifiable information has been misused.

The statement explained that the breach involved the GoFiber app of Converge, where “a small portion of our customer base was affected” and that it was an isolated incident. Converge also explained that the data breach involved attempts to access the personal information of its customers and other details.

Despite the incident, Converge assures users of their GoFiber app that no personal information was compromised after immediately implementing their additional security measures. It also added that they have reported the incident to the National Privacy Commission (NPC) for further investigation.

“The Company is firmly committed to protecting customer information and upholding privacy rights. We assure everyone that we will continue to employ the most advanced security measures to secure our network and systems,” Converge said in concluding its statement on the data breach incident.

Prior to this, other major establishments like S&R were victims of a data breach, while around 700 BDO customers lost their money due to a hacking incident.
