The ultimate sign of being an adult is spending big money on a vacuum. And nothing says ultimate adulting like a vacuum made by Dyson. The stuff they make is the defacto gold standard in the industry, and the company has gone all out for their latest one – the Dyson V15 Detect. It’s probably the smartest vacuum they’ve ever made and has enough tech built into it to make even the most hardcore germaphobe happy.

Design

The Dyson V15 Detect is fancy, lightweight, and compact. It’s actually mind-boggling how this small vacuum is considering the amount of suction force it generates.

The attachments are similarly compact, and Dyson provides quite a number of them to suit every situation. They’re relatively easy to put on and remove and are all relatively lightweight.

As for the body, it is a bit heavier than the previous model but it is still light and easy to maneuver. In fact, it won’t give you strains even after a whole day of cleaning floors, walls, or even ceilings.

 

Just take note that it has a pretty small dustbin, so you may have to empty it out often. Thankfully, it’s a piece of cake as it comes with an ejection mechanism. You won’t even get your hands dirty.

Features

The Dyson V15 Detect comes with the features we love in the previous model, specifically the Dust Illumination and Piezo sensor. 

Starting with the Dust Illumination Tech, the V15 Detect has an attachment with a built-in laser. This laser light allows users to see small particles that are hardly visible to the naked eye. It is incredibly effective and useful that you’d wish every attachment had one. 

Probably the coolest part of the V15 Detect is the Piezo sensor. This sensor measures and counts the dust that the vacuum sucks up, and then displays it on the LED screen conveniently located at the back of the vacuum. 

This allows you to see, in real-time, how much dust and particles the V15 Detect is sucking up at any given time while you’re cleaning.

In addition, the Piezo sensor helps the vacuum choose just the right amount of suction power when set on auto mode, which helps the vacuum maximize its battery life. Less effort for lightly dusty surfaces, higher suction power for more dusty areas – you get the idea. 

Another cool feature of this vacuum, as introduced in this model, is the new brush bar technology. We all know hair can be painstaking to remove from surfaces, especially from our pets. This feature will end your problem with all kinds of hair.

Performance and Battery Life

The Dyson V15 Detect is the brand’s most powerful vacuum up to date. It has 240 air watts, which is a measure of sucking power. Unlike most vacuums in the market that are rated through watts, Dyson opted to measure its vacuum with air watts as this is a more accurate way though it may not seem like it.

The next important thing about vacuums is filtration. This one has a 5-stage advanced filtration system that captures 99.99% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. That means it can capture even the smoke from cigarettes. And of course, dust and dirt from floors and surfaces.

This filter is designed to last a lifetime and is actually washable. However, Dyson still recommends changing it after a year, depending on the usage. Luckily, changing the filter is effortless and can be done in seconds.

Moreover, the vacuum has a click-in battery which, in our review, lasted for almost 2 hours of cleaning on eco mode. It also charges from zero to 80 percent in just 3 hours.

Wrap-up and verdict

The Dyson V15 Detect has set the benchmark once again. It has features that set it apart from others. More importantly, it does the cleaning in the best possible way, which is by providing you scientific deep cleaning while saving you a lot of time. This is what all vacuum cleaners should be about. 

Probably the only drawback with the Dyson V15 Detect (and really, any Dyson product) is the price. You’ll be paying a steep premium for this, but if you want the best cordless vacuum around, that’s what it’ll take.
