Elon Musk will be rebranding Twitter and its highly recognizable, some would say iconic blue bird logo to X. This was announced, as all important Twitter announcements have these days, during the early morning hours of Sunday, in a tweet on the platform.

He confirmed his original tweet to say “If a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”

Twitter’s new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, seemingly confirmed the change, tweeting later saying that “It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression. Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”

Twitter has been in rough shape after Elon Musks’ buyout of the company. He has admitted that advertisers have been slow to return to the platform, and Twitter has been hit with many technical issues.
Twitter is also facing increasing competition from companies like Meta, who launched its own Twitter-like experience dubbed “Threads“, which saw it achieve its 100 millionth user in just 5 days of opening to the public.
