Globe and Converge Partner in For Fiber Projects in Bicol, Leyte

Globe and Converge continue to co-build projects in the Bicol Region and Leyte Province to expand the fiber optic network in the area so that residents will enjoy a more reliable connectivity. This is part of a partnership that they signed in February 2022, where the first project by Globe and Converge involved 137 kilometers of fiber optic network that spans from Pili, Camarines Sur to Legazpi City, Albay. This project was completed in Q3 of 2022.

Following the success of its first co-build project, Globe and Converge are currently working on a fiber network that spans 209 kilometers and covers Tacloban and Maasin via Baybay. This project is currently at 80% completion and is expected to conclude by Q3 of 2024.

Both projects are part of Globe’s initiative to expand its fiber network and expand its network capacity to accommodate to the needs of its subscribers in the Bicol region and Leyte province.

“By pooling our resources and expertise, we’re not only expanding our network more efficiently but also significantly lowering the costs associated with such extensive infrastructure projects,” Globe Head of Network Planning and Engineering Joel Agustin said, adding that the collaboration with Converge helps Globe to improve its network availability and consistency.

Aside from Globe, Converge signed an assets sharing deal with DITO to strengthen both their networks with expanded network coverage and increased redundancy.
