Globe Officially Rolls Out eSIM for Prepaid Subscribers

After we have spotted the official availability of Globe’s eSIM for prepaid subscribers, Globe has announced its official availability. Like Smart, the Globe eSIM aims to give its prepaid subscribers the added convenience of having their own number without relying on a physical SIM.

Aside from the added convenience and the eco-friendliness of an eSIM, Globe is also introducing an eSIM compatibility check to ensure that their subscribers’ devices are ready for using an eSIM.

Among the benefits of an eSIM include being able to manage multiple numbers on a single device, allowing users to easily switch lines for various purposes.

Globe’s eSIM is priced at Php 99 and is compatible with both iOS and Android devices–the latter being updated after it was initially not available a few weeks ago. That price includes 5GB of data and unlimited all-net texts for 3 days. Purchasing an eSIM is done through the GlobeOne App, where customers can download and install their eSIM right after purchase.

To activate the eSIM, customers simply scan the QR code provided in the email and set it up from there. iOS users can add the eSIM under “Cellular Plans”, while Android users can add it through the “SIM card manager”. Like regular, physical SIMs, all eSIMs need to be registered through the GlobeOne app.

As of writing this article, the Globe Prepaid eSIM is exclusive to new Globe Prepaid numbers, and the telco is working on enabling the conversion of existing prepaid physical SIMs to eSIMs in the future.
