Globe Now Allowing eSIM Upgrade to Current Prepaid Subscribers

Months after officially offering a prepaid eSIM to new subscribers, Globe announced that it will be offering current Prepaid subscribers an upgrade from a physical SIM to an eSIM.

The upgrade offer is priced at Php 99, and can be availed via the GlobeOne App. The app will also do the necessary checks to see if 1) your device supports eSIM, and 2) if your Globe Prepaid number is eligible for the upgrade.

We tried to apply for an eSIM upgrade to our Globe Prepaid number, but the GlobeOne App said that the upgrade is not yet available. This means that Globe is rolling out the upgrade offer in batches, so other prepaid subscribers might need to wait a little longer before they will be eligible.

To activate the eSIM, customers simply scan the QR code provided in the email and set it up from there. iOS users can add the eSIM under “Cellular Plans”, while Android users can add it through the “SIM card manager”.

“This new offer is part of our drive for wider adoption of eSIM. We’re not just keeping up with the digital needs of our customers, we’re propelling them into the future of connectivity,” Globe Prepaid Head Givielle Florida said.
