HUAWEI is Unveiling a New TWS on February 18

Aside from unveiling the Mate XT globally on February 18, HUAWEI will also launch a unique pair of TWS earbuds as well with the FreeArc. This new product has an open-ear design that may look similar to the FreeClip but is made more for those who are into active sports.

HUAWEI teased the FreeArc on their social media pages, highlighting a design that stays secure even if you go out for a run, along with an IP57 rating–which is higher compared to most TWS earbuds. While you also get a C-bridge structure like the FreeClip, the FreeArc adds a rubber strap that wraps around the ear for a more secure fit.

The buds feature a 17x12mm driver unit, and their battery life is rated for up to 28 hours on a single charge–with a 10-minute charge giving you 3 hours of music playback.

Ahead of its global launch, it’s intriguing that you can pre-order the FreeArc in Japan via a crowdfunding platform–something we least expect from a big tech brand like HUAWEI. The possible speculation for this approach is that HUAWEI wants to make its new tech more approachable to the Japanese market, who are known to be conservative and highly brand-loyal.

In Japan, the FreeArc is priced at JPY 18,800, which translates to around Php 7,500 when converted. We should know more details about this new TWS on February 18 at HUAWEI’s event in Kuala Lumpur.
