Nothing CEO Carl Pei is very confident of the upcoming Phone (2), he even thinks that the Nothing Phone (2) is a formidable iPhone challenger. Those waiting for the Nothing Phone (2) should know that it is slated to be available in July and that it will be available to more countries–the US included.

In an interview with Forbes, Pei said that they are increasing the battery capacity of the Nothing Phone (2) to 4700mAh, which is 200mAh bigger than the one used in its predecessor and significantly bigger than the one used on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is at 4323mAh. Pei further explained its decision to use the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, where he stated that they prioritize user experience over just specs.

“Choosing Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 ensures that Phone (2) remains accessible while delivering a significantly improved experience compared to Phone (1),” Pei said, claiming that the Nothing Phone (2) offers an 80% overall improvement over its predecessor.

Going back to Nothing being an iPhone challenger, Pei explained that their decision to launch only in specific markets is to see the overall reception of the Phone (1), which turned out to be very positive. Because of that, their plans to bring the Phone (2) to the US is part of offering “a very Apple-dominated market” with a real alternative. The claims may be lofty, but Pei reminded Forbes that their design approach to its is reminiscent of how Apple revolutionized the phone industry with the iPhone. In fact, Apple’s Studio Buds+ appears to copy Nothing’s translucent design language for the Ear series.

There’s not much detail about the Nothing Phone (2) save for what is confirmed, and we really, really hope it lives up to the hype when it officially launches globally in July.
