Is this the Huawei Mate 50 RS?

It has been quite a while since we heard from Huawei and its Mate series. The last time we held our hands on one is the Mate 40 Pro back in 2020–and we’re unsure if Huawei is going to continue with the Mate 50 series. However, it looks like the Mate 50 series will indeed launch sometime this year, and leakster Rodent950 shared what appears to be the render of the Mate 50 RS.

In the render he shared, the Mate 50 RS still has a hexagonal camera module that’s reminiscent of the Mate 40 RS, though two noticeable changes include settling for a quad-rear camera setup and the absence of Leica branding–instead, the Mate 50 RS will use Huawei’s new XMAGE branding.

Production for the Mate 50 has reportedly started, with the vanilla, Pro, and RS model reportedly getting a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor–though there’s no word yet if these chips will have 5G.

When it comes to features, the vanilla Mate 50 will have a 50-megapixel main rear camera, 120hz Full HD+ OLED display supplied by BOE, at least 8GB RAM, at least 128GB internal storage, and HarmonyOS 3.0.

Techypreacher also posted an image that reveals an alleged September 12 launch date for the Mate 50 series. We still are waiting for Huawei to confirm the launch date, so stay tuned to the website for the latest updates.
