After years of focusing on delivering packages (and, at one point, food), Lalamove is set to expand its business with Ride. Ride will go live on February 10 and aims to be another ride-hailing alternative that Filipinos might want to consider.
The service will have four-wheeled vehicles that include hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs, and SUVs. What’s interesting is that Lalamove Ride will also be open to hybrid and electric cars–that’s something we have yet to see with other ride-hailing services currently available in the Philippines.
From what was teased, Ride will be integrated into the Lalamove app, and vehicle options include a sedan for up to 4 passengers and an SUV/MPV for up to 6 passengers. We don’t know yet Lalamove’s pricing for its ride-hailing service, but we expect it to be competitive against other services like Grab, JoyRide, and InDrive.
The rollout of Lalamove Ride in the Philippines follows after they rolled out the service in Malaysia last November 6, 2024 in Malaysia. According to the report in The Straits Times, the Malaysian service is limited to sedans and does not cater to neighboring Singapore. Other than that, Ride functions just like any other ride-hailing service where users can set pick-up and drop-off locations–and plot additional stops along the way.
