According to LTO, the extension for validity for both vehicle registration and driver’s license is in response to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country. For this reason, motor vehicles with plates ending in 7 will have an extended registration validity up to August 31.

On the other hand, student permits, driver’s licenses, and conductor’s licenses that are expiring this July are extended for two months, giving them validity up to September 30.

Meanwhile, the local agency said on Thursday that there might be an increase in fees for renewal and application of driver’s licenses. However, the agency is already looking for ways to avert the increase.

“Inano natin yung mga sinabi ni President Bongbong Marcos ‘no, na maghanap tayo ng paraan na maibsan ‘yun. ‘Yun bang to reduce, to mitigate itong problema po ito ng karamihan,” LTO officer-in-charge Romeo Vera Cruz  said on TeleRadyo when asked if LTO fees would be increased.

“We are studying that and we will report that to the secretary of DOTr (Department of Transportation) and then we will review the fees po para po matulungan ang mga kababayan natin (to help our fellow countrymen),” he added.
