New LRT Fare Matrix Revealed, to Go into Effect on August 2

After confirming the fare hike for LRT-1 and LRT-2 and justifying the need for one, the DoTR has revealed the new fare matrix for both LRT Lines.

For LRT-2, an end-to-end ride from Recto to Antipolo will be Php 33 for Beep card owners and Php for single-journey tickets. As for the base fare, it will be Php 13 for Beep card owners and Php 15 for single-journey tickets. For those getting single-journey tickets, senior citizens, students, and PWDs can get a 20% discount.

As for LRT-1, the base ticket price at Php 15 regardless of stored value or single-journey tickets, while an end-to-end ride from Baclaran to Roosevelt will cost Php 35. Do note that the new LRT fare matrix for both lines 1 and 2 will take effect starting August 2.

The last fare hike for both LRT-1 was back in 2015, and the LRTA justified the fare hike, saying that the amount of money they will be getting from the fare adjustment will be allocated to the maintenance, operating expenses, and the repair and upkeep of crucial rail systems and facilities.

“We are aiming to make our rail services more accessible, convenient, and efficient for commuters,” DOTr Railways Assistant Secretary Jorjette Aquino said in a statement made last June 19.
