The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) announced a new round of toll hikes effective June 15. This is two years after its last round of toll hikes, where Class 1 vehicles have to pay an additional Php 2, while Class 2 and 3 vehicles have to pay an additional Php 3 and Php 4 respectively.

For the toll hike that will go into effect starting June 15, Class 1 vehicles traveling within the open system (from the cities of Navotas, Valenzuela, and Caloocan to Marilao in Bulacan) will have to pay an additional Php 7, while Class 2 and 3 vehicles will have to pay Php 17 and Php 19 more respectively.

Those traveling within the closed system (covering the portion between Bocaue, Bulacan and Sta. Ines, Mabalacat City, Pampanga including Subic-Tipo) will have to pay an additional Php 0.36 per kilometer.

Those traveling end-to-end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City will have to pay an additional Php 33 for Class 1, Php 81 for Class 2, and Php 98 for Class 3. The new round of toll hikes was approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

NLEX explained that the new round of toll hikes is part of its authorized periodic adjustments. “TRB allowed NLEX to collect this year the fourth and last tranche of the 2012 and 2014 periodic adjustments and only half of the 2018 and 2020 increases to help ‘curb the existing inflationary situation and cushion their impact on the users of the expressway,'” NLEX said in a statement.
