It’s been a while since Ookla has shared its Speedtest report, with the last one being the time where they awarded Converge for fastest internet in PH and DITO for top mobile network in PH. We got our hands on the 1H 2024 report of Ookla, and they shared that Smart and Converge are the fastest in mobile internet and fixed broadband in the Philippines respectively.
Starting with fixed broadband, Converge took all three major awards–Fastest Fixed ISP, Best ISP Video Experience, and Best ISP Gaming Experience–with scores of 147.77, 87.62, and 85.08 respectively. Converge’s median download speed is 108.53Mbps, while median upload speeds are 105.32Mbps and latency being at 11ms.
When it comes to consistency, Converge managed to keep the threshold of 25Mbps download and 3Mbps upload speeds at 87.5% of the time, besting PLDT Home by 1.2%.
Moving to mobile internet, Smart took the lead for fastest mobile network with a median download speed of 40.75Mbps, which is a bid lead from second placer Globe at 28.45Mbps. Smart’s median upload speed is at 7.54Mbps with average latency of 47ms. It’s a different story when it comes to consistency, as Globe managed to maintain threshold download speeds of 5Mbps and upload speeds of 1Mbps at 85.5% of the time, besting Smart’s 83.8%.
DITO, on the other hand, maintained its lead as the top rated mobile provider in the Philippines at 3.74, with is a 0.36 lead against second placer Smart.
