While we’re still waiting for Sony Philippines to announce the official pricing and availability of the PlayStation 5 Pro, our friends from Hungry Geeks spotted a unit at DataBlitz in Robinsons Opus Mall.
Interestingly, DataBlitz is selling it for Php 51,999, which is lower than the prices we spotted at online retailers, which hover close to Php 60,000. However, note that the pricing in DataBlitz is around Php 10k higher than its official retail price in the US. It’s also worth noting that the unit Hungry Geeks saw has Japanese text, indicating that it’s a Japanese unit.
For that steep price tag, the PlayStation 5 Pro packs updated internals that Sony promises 45% faster rendering of games compared to the regular PlayStation 5 with 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory. You also get Sony’s in-house AI-driven image upscaling solution called Spectral Super Resolution, along with support for WiFi 7 and 2TB internal storage.
However, all PlayStation 5 Pro units are sold without a disk drive, so you will need to fork an extra thousand Pesos if you want to play your PlayStation games with their physical discs. The vertical stand is also sold separately, so you might want to factor that too.
Because it is sold as a digital-focused console, this might be one of the reasons why the PlayStation 5 Pro has yet to go official in the Philippines.
