Razer has made several unusual concept products through the years, and their latest concept idea is their most unusual to date. Called Project Ava, this concept from Razer is not a fancy new piece of hardware: instead it is an “AI Gaming Copilot” that aims to help you game better. In short, it should help you complete complex gaming missions easier and in the most optimal way possible. “By analyzing millions of simulations within seconds, I’ll always have an answer to your toughest gaming challenges,” Razer said in their marketing video.

The Verge got their hands on this unusual concept with a prerecorded video of Black Myth: Wukong utilizing Razer’s Project Ava. Through the prerecorded video, Project Ava would give prompts like:
- “Get ready to dodge when his blade spins or glows with an orange tinge.”
- “Keep a close eye on his health. Once you shave off 10 to 20 percent get your dodge fingers ready.”
- “He’s going to vanish…”
- “If he grabs you, you will feel it!”

The Verge’s Sean Hollister found the idea weird, but it felt like a more convenient way to guide you through the game over using a separate display to view a gaming guide. The idea looks convenient, but being powered by AI, it remains to be seen how Razer would train its model for Project Ava. Aside from a prerecorded video, Razer also presented a live demo of Project Ava with League of Legends. This demo has Project Ava acting as an AI chatbot to guide you which spells and items you should use based on the current situation in the match––and based on historical data played by various eSports teams.
Like all of Razer’s concept ideas, it’s unlikely that we will see Project Ava become available to the public at the near future. However, we give props to Razer on exploring a different way to utilize AI.
