Return To GLORY? HTC Is BACK With the U23 Pro 5G

Once known as the producer of the world’s most beautiful Android phones, as well as the FIRST ever Android device, HTC is looking to make a comeback with the U23 Pro 5G. It’s actually not a formal return just yet; somehow, photos of the smartphone alongside some juicy specs just made their way to the internet. Here’s what we know so far.

The rumored HTC U23 Pro 5G will shelter the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This gives us an idea that this smartphone will be competing in the highly-intense midrange market. That makes sense since people who are making purchases within this price range are speculated to be less brand-conscious; especially since you don’t get as much bang for the buck if you go for the top brands.

Materials-wise, the construction will likely be mostly made of plastic. Gone are the days when HTC phones were synonymous with the most exclusive metals you could get out there. After all, this isn’t a flagship.

Speaking of, the processor itself was announced last year. It’s still considered one of the top chipsets within its price bracket, and it’s a notable step up from what the competitors are using now. However, since there’s news of an upcoming Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, you may not be getting the latest and greatest of the line upon this device’s release. Although we’re sure that both should perform exceptionally well either way. Current info points out that users will receive 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, although there’s no news yet if that’s expandable.

Display tech used on the HTC U23 Pro 5G is rumored to be AMOLED technology, providing high levels of contrast and punchy colors. This should proclaim that this device is a tier above the very few devices the company has released in the past years. While we’re not completely biased against LCD technology (and there are some good executions), give us a great-looking AMOLED panel any day.

Multimedia consumption should be immersive, and it even supports wired headphones via a 3.5mm headphone jack.

One look at the rear camera module and you could say it’s competitive. So far we only know that the main camera has a resolution of 108 megapixels and is equipped with OIS. There’s no available information yet on the three other sensors.

Keeping the lights on is a 4,600 mAh battery with wireless charging. The phone will likely ship with Android 13 out of the box.

We’re just happy to see HTC trying again, instead of releasing budget devices that are simply a shell of its glory days. What do you think?
