The Samsung Galaxy Tab S line has always featured the Korean tech giant’s latest-and-greatest technology, aimed towards power users. Productivity, multitasking, and media consumption are the core reasons why this tablet is so popular. The aim for this is to follow up their series with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra – these specs are fresh off the rumor mill, being brought to you to get a glimpse of its technical capabilities.
According to a report by GSMArena, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra specs are as follows: It will come packing a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,960×1,848 and a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a relatively large display, given last year’s Galaxy Tab S7+ only had a size of 12.4-inches. If Samsung’s credentials are anything to go by, know that they have made unarguably the best displays on the market for years now.
The screen will not feature the hole punch as seen in other Samsung flagships but will have a small notch containing 2 12-megapixel cameras to go along with its 6.3-mm bezels. On the rear, we have a 13-megapixel main camera backed up by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide shooter. Software-wise it will carry the latest Android 12 with Samsung’s in-house One UI 4.1 skin for aesthetics.
Powering all of this will be the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, supported by 8, 12, or 16GB of RAM for multitasking. Onboard storage can also be specced to have 128, 256, or 512GB. Given that the Gen 1 is Qualcomm’s answer to the MediaTek Dimensity 9000, logically speaking, we can expect flagship-level performance greater than our current generation Snapdragon 888. Keeping the lights on is a sizeable 11,200 mAh battery supporting 45W fast charging, although we’d be stoked to see higher wattage support given what other brands are doing.
There is no exact release date yet, although most publications are estimating a release early in 2022, around the same time as the new iPad models.
