Skyway Stage 3 Provional Rates Approved

The Skyway Stage 3 is finally getting provisional rates for its use, after all the drama about its closure-but-not-really in the recent weeks. San Miguel Corporation (SMC) and the Toll Regulatory board have finally agreed on Skyway Stage 3 Provisional Rates for motorists, with the rates announced by TRB Spokesperson Julius Corpuz during a meeting yesterday, March 25.

Skyway Stage 3 Provisional Rates:

  • CLASS 1 VEHICLES
  • Sta. Mesa to Ramon Magsaysay Avenue – P30
  • Ramon Magsaysay Avenue to Balintawak – P129
  • Buendia to Balintawak – P264
  • CLASS 2 VEHICLES
  • Buendia to Sta. Mesa P210
  • Ramon Magsaysay Ave. to Balintawak – P258
  • Buendia to Balintawak – 528
  • CLASS 3 VEHICLES
  • Buendia to Sta. Mesa – P315
  • Sta. Mesa to Ramon Magsaysay Ave. – P90
  • Ramon Magsaysay Ave. to Balintawak – P387
  • Buendia to Balintawak – P792

However, the spokesperson also clarified that the approval of provisional rates does not mean that Skyway 3 will immediately start collecting toll fees from motorists as it would be a separate process. According to him, before San Miguel Corporation (SMC)—the operator of Skyway 3—can start collecting fees, there’s must be a notice to collect from the TRB first. And even before that, TRB requires that the ramps must have been built completely, and the tollway’s full alignment completion has surpassed the 95-percent mark. So until then, it will remain free.

“Hindi pa po sila pwedeng maningil ng toll fee kahit provisionally approved na ang mga toll fees ng Skyway 3. Hiwalay na proseso po iyan at still ongoing,” Corpuz said.

He further added that, that authority to collect toll fees, will only be issued once the toll operator is already fully-complied with the requirements such as testing and commissioning of its toll collection systems. Hence, motorists can still enjoy the use of Skyway 3 for free until further notice.

The Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 connects Buendia and Balintawak, cutting travel time to just 20 minutes and de-congesting EDSA. It has been free of charge since its partial opening on December 29, 2020.
