Smart has once again been recognized as the Philippines’ fastest mobile operator in terms of download speeds.

Based on Speedtest’s latest report, the PLDT subsidiary was able to deliver a median download speed of 35.56Mbps in Q3 2023. Smart’s closest competitor, Globe, was only able to put up 22.42Mbps, while DITO Telecommunity followed behind with a median download speed of 19.53Mbps.

The median download speed in the Philippines for the third quarter of 2023 is 26.36Mbps for mobile and 83.09Mbps for fixed broadband. As a result, the Philippines now ranks 86th in the world when it comes to mobile download speed and 56th for fixed broadband.

Smart has repeatedly been hailed as the “Best Mobile Network” in the Philippines by Ookla, the network testing and analytics company that owns Speedtest. The most recent report from Speedtest showed that Smart only marginally improved from its previous winning median download speed results in the previous quarter of 35.39Mbps.

Meanwhile, the performance of both Globe and DITO Telecommunity actually went down as they posted slightly higher speeds of 22.68Mbps and 19.69Mbps, respectively, in Q2 2023.

Speedtest’s third quarter report also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has the highest median download speed at 84.42Mbps. Next was the Apple 14 Pro Max at 83.23Mbps, the iPhone 14 Pro at 80.52Mbps, the base iPhone 14 at 80.43Mbps, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra at 75.23Mbps.

When it came to the combined performance of major phone manufacturers this quarter, Apple headed the pack with a median download speed of 47.10Mbps, followed by Samsung (33.77Mbps), Xiaomi (29.18Mbps), Huawei (18.99Mbps), and Infinix (18.14Mbps).

Even though speed isn’t everything, Smart’s consecutive wins in Speedtest’s testing may mean that the company’s average customer enjoys a better experience compared to their peers who use other network providers.
