If you’re looking for dedicated 5G mobile data that offers lightning-fast download speeds, Smart recently rolled out its UHD data plans for prepaid subscribers. Available through the Smart App, the UHD data packs claim to offer dedicated 5G connectivity with up to 200Mbps download speeds. Because of the nature of the service, Smart UHD data packs are on the pricey side.
For Upfront UHD, a 30GB monthly data allocation will cost you Php 999, while going for triple the allocation will cost you Php 1999 a month. If you prefer the Daily UHD version instead, a 30-day plan with 3GB daily high-speed data allocation will cost you Php 1099.
While the data pack promo appears to be ideal for those who want a high-speed connection on the go (and not involving fiber connections), there are caveats to it. Its main disclaimer is that you should be in an area where Smart’s 5G connectivity is great. Smart still leads when it comes to 5G coverage according to OpenSignal’s April 2024 report, so finding an area that has good 5G reception should not be hard if you’re residing at least in Metro Manila.
