It seems that a lot of brands are following Apple’s Air branding on their mid-range tablets, as vivo recently confirmed that they will release the Pad Air in China as an affordable alternative to the Pad 2. Similar to the Pad 2, the Pad Air will also have a circular camera island on the back panel. The bezels appear to be slim on the Pad Air, and vivo China says that its 3:2 aspect ratio makes it ideal for learning.
Speaking of the display, the Pad Air will be equipped with a 144hz 11.5-inch IPS display with a 2880×1800 or 2.8K resolution. Powering it is a Snapdragon 870 processor–which is slowly becoming the go-to processor for most Android tablets these days. As for the battery, the Pad Air will carry a 8500mAh cell that supports vivo’s 44w FlashCharge.
Being slightly smaller than the Pad 2, the main selling point of the Pad Air is that it is a thin and light tablet–specifically, it is only 6.67mm thin and only weighs 530 grams. Following the iPad Air’s footsteps, the Pad Air will have Free Blue and Brave Pink as color options aside from the usual silver.
vivo has yet to release any of its tablets outside of China, and we hope that they might consider the Pad Air for a global release.
