(UPDATE) Xiaomi confirms August 11 launch date for the MIX Fold 2.

(ORIGINAL STORY) While August 10 will be a big day for Samsung as it will officially announce the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4, Xiaomi might crash into Samsung’s parade with the launch of the MIX Fold 2. According to leakster Ice Universe, Xiaomi intends to launch the MIX Fold 2 on August 11, a day after Samsung announces its foldable phones.

To further corroborate what Ice Universe said, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun is scheduled to deliver a lecture on August 11.

“I want to talk about something different: everyone encounters setbacks and failures in the process of growing up, how I got out of the trough in life, and what life insights I gained,” Jun wrote.

To further add confirmation that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is coming on August 11, Xiaomi Mobile Product Manager Lao Wei shared this screenshot, which appears to have a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 1080×2520 resolution. For comparison, the Mi MIX Fold uses an unusual 27:9 aspect ratio on its cover display.

In addition to that, the cover display on the MIX Fold 2 will have a 120hz refresh rate, which is an upgrade to the 90hz refresh rate on its predecessor. Given the changes in the size of the cover display, the MIX Fold2 is expected to have a 10.3:9 aspect ratio for its foldable internal display.

Other expected specs of the MIX Fold 2 include a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor that’s paired with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, along with 67w wired charging.
