One of the biggest surprises from the local launch of the Xiaomi 15 yesterday was the sighting of the SU7 EV on the event floor–a first in the Philippines after all the viral photos and videos that surfaced on social media.
Initially, we were intrigued with the SU7 that was on display as it had a conduction sticker on the windshield, which made us think that it was an official unit from Xiaomi Philippines–until we saw the signs plastered around the area that the SU7 is not officially for sale in the Philippines. To make things interesting, the SU7 that was on display was actually the same unit that was posted on Facebook several months ago.
As of writing, the SU7 is only sold in China, and those that are in the Philippines (there are 5 units, we were told) are imported by Eco Max. Aside from the SU7, Eco Max also imports Tesla EVs like the Model Y, Model 3, and Model X.
After the presentation of the Xiaomi 15 and the rest of Xiaomi’s new ecosystem products (including a new HyperCharge power bank), a Xiaomi executive talked about the SU7 on display. As for if the Xiaomi SU7 is coming to the Philippines, there’s no definite answer for now. However, we were told that they are planning to bring it to the Philippines, but there’s no definite date in the meantime.
For now, we will wait for Xiaomi Philippines to make an official announcement regarding the SU7’s availability–and we hope that will happen within the year.
