Now in its 4th iteration, Smart has collaborated with YouTube to successfully complete the 2021 rendition of the ever-popular NextUp program. For those who aren’t familiar, the project is a competition with the objective of elevating the quality of content in the Philippines by guiding the next generation of content creators. Notable alumni of the program include talents such as Renee Dominique, Team Lyga, Hype Streetball, Lesha, Nate Punzalan, and many more. This year’s NextUp features 12 winners who can be seen in the infographic below:
These 12 winners emerge from diverse backgrounds and thus create a wide range of content. This is in line with Google’s mantra for inclusivity. Although each winner has content that ranges from chicken farming, fashion, art, dance, lifestyle, food, or many more, one thing remains the same – the passion these creators have for their craft. The spark in them continues to ignite viewers, in turn, lighting a great fire that can possibly change many people’s lives.
Bernadette Nacario, Country Director of Google Philippines mentioned that she recognizes the talent in each and every Filipino content creator. She added that “Through NextUp, they will learn important knowledge and skills so they can thrive on the platform” in hopes of generating positive societal impact and telling meaningful stories.
“Our support for Filipino content creators all these years stems from our commitment to bring amazing experiences to our subscribers through cutting-edge technology made simple by Smart. In the same way that we enable our subscribers to pursue their passions and share their craft powered by our world-class network, we’re glad to partner with YouTube to further hone and empower a promising breed of Pinoy content creators through the NextUp program,” said Smart Philippines’ First Vice President of Corporate Marketing & Strategy Lloyd R. Manaloto. The telco is very involved in the program, and have supported the winners every step of the way.
As a reward for their efforts, these 12 winners will gain the privilege of participating in an exclusive creator camp where they will be able to learn in-depth production techniques and other skills from industry experts. Previous NextUp finalists and current YouTube stars will also make themselves available for mentorship. In addition to that, they will be receiving strategic account management support from YouTube’s Creator & Artist Development team, as well as the chance to work with the PLDT Group of Companies.
To aid with the technological side of things, Smart will be gifting each of the 12 finalists an equipment stipend worth Php 100,000 to spend on various gear to bring their content to the next level, as well as 5G data plans to support their passions. 3 lucky finalists will also be locked in a 12-month endorsement contract with the brand.
