More and more game developers are working to make their popular titles available to mobile. In the case of Electronic Arts, they plan to launch not one but two new mobile games. We have heard about Apex Legends mobile, with its regional beta going live real soon, and now Battlefield is the next title coming to mobile.
In a press statement, EA and subsidiary DICE said that they are finally bringing Battlefield to mobile after years of prototyping. Battlefield Mobile is scheduled to arrive in 2022 on smartphones and tablets, and EA promises a completely new game.
Just like with APEX Legends and other titles like PUBG and Call of Duty, the mobile version of Battlefield will be designed from the ground up, preserving key elements of the PC and console version. iToys is also helping out in developing the game, and it is said to be “a fully-fledged, skill-based experience.” Ahead of its official launch next year, there will have a testing period for interested players to try out.
Aside from the announcement of a mobile version of the game, DICE and Criterion LA are also working on creating a new Battlefield game for both console and PC platforms, which is slated to arrive later this year. EA said that the next Battlefield is currently on playtesting mode and that they are ironing out a few details–polishing, balancing and making it the best experience possible–before they make their official reveal soon.
“It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs,” DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson said in the press statement.
