Free Until Further Notice
The first horror survival game I ever played was the first installment Resident Evil/Bio Hazard on the Playstation 1 back in the day. When you take a look at the original graphics now, I find myself wondering why I would get so stressed out about the incredibly blocky zombies and all the rest of the creepy crawlies in the game. The game, however, sparked something in game devs and there was a mad rush to see who could mimic the success of the Resident Evil franchise. One of my favorite games and a title I think gave Resident Evil a run for their money, was Dead Space –a game that was first released in 2008 for the PC, Playstation 3, and the Xbox 360.
It’s set in the year 2508 and in terms of plotlines, it starts out pretty much like the horror movie “Event Horizon” (or most horror films in space) where a mining ship sends out a distress beacon and the investigating ship finds out that all hell has broken loose and corpses come back to life. While the overall plot isn’t that original, I still remember giving out a few manly shrieks playing the game and having to take a breather after a stressful encounter.
If you haven’t had the chance to play Dead Space, the good news here is that EA is giving it away for absolutely free through Origin. That’s right. If you’re like me and plan to revisit the USG Ishimura and tackle baddies with plasma cutter then it’s best to do it sooner than later because they didn’t really mention when they would end this promotion. We highly advise to download or at least make sure that it’s in your Origin library as soon as possible.
