Video chat, AR stickers are among one of the new features
Aside from Facebook’s announcement of a dating feature, social media app Instagram will be getting a few new features as well. One of these is a video chat feature, where Instagram users can either do a one-on-one or group video chat (up to four people) via Instagram direct. There will be a video camera icon to enable video chat, along with a minimize button to let users multitask through Instagram.
Next up is the addition of AR camera effects for Instagram stories, where Facebook’s Camera Effects Platform is utilized for a variety of effects. Third parties will be allowed to create custom AR effects for this new feature.
Speaking of Instagram Stories, Instagram announced that it will be integrating support for Spotify and GoPro. With this feature, users can share GoPro clips or tracks they are listening on Spotify to Instagram Stories or Instagram Direct.
All these new features, along with a revamped Explore page, will roll out soon.
