Redmi’s First Smartwatch Launched in China

Redmi joins the realm of smartwatches by releasing its very first smartwatch, aptly named the Redmi Watch. The company is following the footsteps of brands like Xiaomi, realme and Huawei thanks to its new smartwatch, with the wearable announced alongside the Redmi Note 9 series in China.

The Redmi Watch sports a square 1.4-inch color display with a 320×320-pixel resolution covered in 2.5D glass. Its design follows a “Nordic Style” that minimalist fans will be pleased to look at and wear. The watch comes with the typical fitness, heart-rate, and sleep tracker, and is only priced at just CNY 299 or Php 2.2K.

The watch’s body comes in three color options: black, white, and navy blue, and ships with a silicone strap that comes in either pink and green. The watch face is customizable with over 120 options that can be adjusted using the Mi Fit app. The Redmi Watch comes installed with the standard selection of sports modes and it stays waterproof at depths of up to 50m and weighs in at just. Additionally, The device is NFC-enabled and supports Bluetooth 5.0 LE.

The watch uses a proprietary charger (just like Xiaomi’s own offerings) though on the upside it only requires two hours to get to full charge. Redmi is advertising their watch as having a 7-day battery life which goes up to 12 when used with its power-saving mode on.

The Redmi Watch went on sale yesterday in China retailing at CNY 269 (Php 2k) for a limited time. It was not disclosed whether the watch would be made available internationally. However, there is a high probability that it will, possibly as the Xiaomi Mi Watch Lite which is was spotted in an FCC listing a while back.
