Zuckerberg Aims to Invest $60 Billion on Meta AI

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted last week that they might reach a point where AI will take care of their app coding. Zuckerberg doubles down on his push for AI, as he is looking to invest at least $60 billion in capital expenditure for building Meta AI. Zuckerberg’s push for AI development goes in line with Trump’s commitment to investing around $500 billion in AI infrastructures.

“In 2025, I expect Meta AI will be the leading assistant serving more than 1 billion people, Llama 4 will become the leading state-of-the-art model, and we’ll build an AI engineer that will start contributing increasing amounts of code to our R&D effort,” Zuckerberg said in a post on Threads.

To make this possible, Meta will be building a 2GW data center to handle its AI capabilities, with Zuckerberg describing it to “cover a significant part of Manhattan.”

Zuckerberg’s vision for the data center includes 1GW of computing power by the end of 2025, with more than 1.3 million GPUs powering it. Aside from building infrastructure, Zuckerberg also plans to grow its AI team as well. Zuckerberg is even confident that Meta’s Llama 4 LLM “will become the leading state-of-the-art” AI model with this data center they are building.
