While fiber internet in the Philippines is usually postpaid, ISPs have recently offered prepaid fiber internet offerings to Filipinos who are looking for a backup internet solution. 2024 has solidified the prepaid fiber internet offerings in the Philippines, so we take a look at what the competition has to offer.
As of the fourth quarter of 2024, only Converge, PLDT, and Globe offer prepaid fiber internet in the Philippines. Common between the three is that they have prepaid packs for 7 days, 15 days, and 30 days and that there are limitations to what they offer as compared to their postpaid offerings.
Converge
Converge’s Surf2Sawa has a one-time set-up fee of Php 1,000, and the initial load is Php 700 for their 30-Day internet service. Converge promises speeds of up to 35Mbps, and limits up to 6 connected devices at the same time to maintain those speeds.
Here are Converge’s Prepaid data packs:
- 1 Day – Php 50
- 7 Days – Php 200
- 15 Days – Php 380
- 30 Days – Php 700
Globe
Globe’s GFiber Prepaid has a one-time setup fee of Php 1,499, which includes their Php 199 7-Day. Globe promises speeds of up to 50Mbps. There’s no mention of any device limit as of writing this article, and Globe offers a 1-Year plan that’s priced at Php 7k (Php 10k if bundled with Disney+).
Here are Globe’s Prepaid data packs:
- 7 Days – Php 199
- 15 Days – Php 399
- 30 Days – Php 699
- 30 Days (with Disney+) – Php 999
- 1 Year – Php 6,999
- 1 Year (with Disney+) – Php 9,999
PLDT
As the latest telco to offer prepaid fiber, PLDT charges a one-time setup fee of Php 1,399, which includes their 15-day data pack. PLDT promises speeds of up to 35Mbps, and while they don’t explicitly mention any device limit, we presume that it might be the same 10-device limit as with their Home WiFi (LTE/5G) modems.
Here are PLDT’s Prepaid data packs:
- 7 Days – Php 199
- 15 Days – Php 399
- 30 Days – Php 699
All three ISPs that currently offer prepaid fiber internet have their own strengths and weaknesses, but do note that it all boils down to the availability of their services in your area–so make sure to give them a call to see if your area is covered before applying for a prepaid fiber internet connection.
