A REAL Budget Gaming Device? HONOR Announces X40 GT with Snapdragon 888

The HONOR X40 made its debut in China with an interesting feature for a mid-range 5G phone in the form of a 6.67-inch curved AMOLED display with a 120hz refresh rate. HONOR continues its unique mid-range configuration on the X40 series with the GT version.

As mentioned previously, the main draw of the X40 GT is its use of a Snapdragon 888 processor, which is a few generations old but still is a great flagship processor for gaming purposes. To support its gaming goals, the X40 GT has an 8-layer graphite cooling pad to keep temps stable. The display is a large 6.81-inch display, and while it’s just a flat IPS panel, you get a 144hz refresh rate and 480hz touch response rate. The battery is slightly smaller at 4800mAh, but you do get faster 66w charging.

Since gaming is its priority, the X40 GT has the same rear camera setup as the non-GT model, but adds a macro camera (which, again, we felt is not really needed). The selfie snapper is a higher-resolution 16-megapixel shooter, and software is taken care of Android 12-based MagicUI 6.1
