HONOR Teases X9b: An Improved X9a?

HONOR Teases X9b: An Improved X9a?

HONOR is set to unveil the X9b soon, as teasers of the upcoming mid-range phone have surfaced in Malaysia. Its design looks very similar to the X9a, though the teaser image of the X9b showcases an orange vegan leather back panel.

The X9b’s large module at the back houses two cameras and an LED flash, and also highlights a tough curved AMOLED display just like the X9a. While HONOR has yet to reveal the X9b’s specs, we speculate that this might be the global version of the X50 that was announced months ago.

To recall, the X50 has two highlights. First, it uses a newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor that is more powerful than the Snapdragon 695 used on the X9a. Aside from better performance, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 supports 4K video recording, which is a feature that’s notably missing on the X9a. The X50 also stands out for its large 5800mAh battery while retaining the same frame used on the X9a. There’s a possibility that HONOR may have used its silicon-carbon battery tech, but the official page states that it uses a lithium-polymer battery.

For the cameras, the X50 drops the X9a’s ultra-wide and uses a lower-resolution 8-megapixel selfie shooter in exchange for a higher-resolution 108-megapixel main camera that can maximize the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1’s 4K video recording capabilities.

Based on HONOR Malaysia’s website, we expect the X9b to launch on October 26. There’s a very good chance that it might land in the Philippines as well since the majority of HONOR devices that were made available in Malaysia make it to our shores eventually.
